“The weariness of the struggle is in every word they speak, especially since the very people they believed in, and by whom they expected to be treated as equals, have betrayed them in ways that are sure to resonate in our current moment.”

Keith Uhlich, Hollywood Reporter.

(Q&A with the filmmaker after the screening)

This feature documentary tells the untold story of the women who fought in Nicaragua’s Sandinista Revolution and chronicles their continuing struggle for social and political reform. The women warriors depicted and interviewed shattered barriers to lead combat and social reform during Nicaragua’s 1979 Sandinista Revolution, and the ensuing US-backed Contra War. Despite their battlefield victories, sacrifice and extraordinary early leadership, these same women continue to lead the struggle for justice today against their current government’s suppression of women’s rights and democracy. In Spanish with English subtitles.
