Keely Shaye Brosnan & Pierce Brosnan

Pierce and Keely Shaye Brosnan to attend the 2017 Mendocino Film Festival

Look Who’s Coming to Mendocino This Year!

It was Pierce Brosnan’s birthday this week, and he’ll have a belated celebration at the 12th Annual Mendocino Film Festival kicking off in 2 weeks, on June 1. The Irish-born actor/producer and his director wife Keely Shaye Brosnan will be on hand to receive the festival’s Rogue Wave Award and screen their award-winning documentary, Poisoning Paradise.

Danny Glover was a past recipient of the award, established to honor those individuals in the film industry who have used their talents, celebrity, and resources in service to society and the world at large. Through their inspiring passion and commitment in this time of political and environmental crisis, Pierce and Keely Shaye Brosnan are radiant examples for us all.

The Brosnans’ environmental activism will be honored at a special Members Screening of the Short Films Program and Awards event on Thursday, June 1. They will be lauded for their compelling documentary, Poisoning Paradise, screening Saturday June 3. Their

film focuses on Hawaiian activists fighting the environmental damage caused by pesticides and test sites for genetically engineered crops.

“Each of us has a responsibility to protect our land, our water, our oceans and the air we breathe for future generations,” said Poisoning Paradise co-director Keely Shaye Brosnan.

This marks the festival’s most international and far-reaching program to date, with 65 films from 23 countries. In addition to screenings and Q&As with filmmakers, the festival will feature several celebrity guests, special events and rousing musical evenings.
