We are thrilled to announce that Piper and Pearl will both be part of our 2017 Short Films Program! Please join us in cheering on our Oscar contenders Piper, Pearl, and Life, Animated at the 89th Academy Awards this Sunday. 

And, speaking of the 12th Annual Mendocino Film Festival, our Members recently enjoyed an exclusive sneak preview of our program. It is our pleasure to share this First Look at our 2017 Program with you now.

An adorable and heartwarming short about a young sandpiper who must learn to find food while facing her biggest fear: the ocean. Watch trailer.

Nominated for Best Animated Short

Featuring a beautiful song by MFF alum Alexis Harte, Pearl follows a young girl and her dad as they travel the country in their beloved hatchback. This poignant tale of love, struggle, and living your dreams is a 360 Spotlight Google Story. Watch trailer.

Nominated for Best Documentary Feature

The amazing true story of Owen Suskind, an autistic boy who found a way communicate and connect with those around him through Disney movies, Life, Animated won Best Director at Sundance for MFF alum Roger Ross Williams. Life, Animated screened at the Mendocino Film Festival in 2016, where it was a crowd favorite. Breaking News: Strad Style Added to Lineup

This just in! We’re delighted to announce our latest official selection: the delightful documentary Strad Style, which comes to us fresh from Slamdance, where it took home the Audience Award. This “nerd manifesto with violins” follows an amateur Stradivarius aficionado who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to recreate one of these famous violins and must make his one shot at glory count.
