Landfill Harmonic wins Audience Choice Award at Eleventh Annual Mendocino Film Festival
Music films sweep Audience Choice Award at record-breaking 2016 Mendocino Film Festival, which featured World, US, and California Premieres, Oscar winners, and celebrity guests
MENDOCINO, CA – The Mendocino Film Festival has announced Landfill Harmonic as the winner of the 2016 Audience Choice Award. Coming in as runner-up was Omo Child, followed by music documentaries Jaco and Crossing Rachmaninoff, which tied for third place. Rounding out the top five was Rosenwald.
The popularity of this year’s music track coincides with a new partnership with the Mendocino Music Festival and the most successful and acclaimed year of the film festival to date. In addition to seeing record attendance, the Eleventh Annual Mendocino Film Festival presented award-winning films and invited special guests from around the world to experience Mendocino on May 27-29 and June 2-5.
“The Eleventh Annual Mendocino Film Festival brought the world to the community and cemented our standing in the broader festival community,” says Mendocino Film Festival Executive Director Michael Fox. “We welcomed celebrity guests like Robert Trujillo of Metallica and the film Jaco, Leslie Sbrocco of Check, Please! Bay Area, Flavio Villani, who was here all the way from New Zealand for the US Premiere of Crossing Rachmaninoff, and many others. We’re very proud of what we have accomplished.”
The Mendocino Film Festival’s partners at the Mendocino Music Festival were also delighted to hear of Landfill Harmonic and Crossing Rachmaninoff’s success.
“The Mendocino Music Festival was proud to sponsor Landfill Harmonic and to partner in presenting Crossing Rachmaninoff. Both films beautifully show the power of music to transform, touch hearts and unite,” says Barbara Faulkner, Executive Director of the Mendocino Music Festival. “It was a great pleasure to support a fellow festival, especially one we admire so much.”
“We had TV crews broadcasting live from the Festival Tent — the word is out,” Fox adds. “And it’s not surprising that we’re starting to get more publicity. Our program highlights the best in international and independent film, and we are lucky to have the most stunningly beautiful setting you could possibly imagine. We can’t wait to share our next extraordinary edition, May 26-28 and June 1-4, 2017!”
