“An emotion-filled drama that uncovers an authentic Cuba.”

Gary Kramer, Indiewire

Viva stars Héctor Medina as Jesus, a young hairdresser working at a Havana nightclub that showcases drag performers. Jesus secretly dreams of being a performer himself, and with the encouragement of his mentor, Mama (Luis Alberto García), he finally gets his big break, taking to the stage as “Viva.” But just as Jesus is about to achieve his goal, his estranged father Angel (Jorge Perugorría) abruptly reenters his life, turning Jesus’s world upside down. Though at first, father and son clash over their opposing expectations and concepts of masculinity and morality, as they slowly learn more about each other, the film becomes a sweet and tender love story, as the two men struggle to understand one another and reconcile as a family.
