“This story will blow your mind, man.”
(Panel with Tim Scully and other locals featured in the film after the screening)
A real-life “Breaking Bad” for the psychedelic set, The Sunshine Makers reveals the entertaining story behind Nicholas Sand and Tim Scully, the unlikely duo at the heart of 1960s American drug counterculture. Prior to meeting each other, these two visionaries independently come to the same conclusion: LSD will create world peace, one trip at a time. Eventually, their connections introduce them to each other, and a partnership is born, with the duo setting up their main lab in Windsor, California. At its peak, the Windsor lab produces four million doses of what will come to be known as “Orange Sunshine” – the most famous LSD ever produced. Soon enough, Orange Sunshine reigns over the U.S., Europe, India, and even Afghanistan. Nicholas and Tim are just getting started – but nothing lasts forever, especially with the authorities in hot pursuit.
