Q&A with director Greg Nava and stars Jimmy Smits and Esai Morales after the screening

A second-generation Mexican immigrant narrates his family history, beginning with the journey of his father, Jose, across Mexico to Los Angeles where he meets Maria and starts a family. Each subsequent generation contends with political and social hardships, ranging from illegal deportations in the 1940s to racial tensions and gang fights in the ’60s and ’70s. Yet through it all, or perhaps because of it, the family remains strong.

Peggy Berryhill and Leigh Anne Lindsey talk with Mendocino Film Festival Program Director for the 2nd time about the approaching festival (dates May 30-June 3 in Mendocino and Fort Bragg) and the latest addition to the film lineup, the 1995 film by Greg Nava, My Family, the break out film for Jennifer Lopez and starring Jimmy Smith and Esai Morales who are both coming to the showing to do a Q&A with Claudia after the film shows.
