“If there were a Michelin guide for documentaries, Chicago filmmakers Kevin Pang and Mark Helenowski would earn three stars for their fascinating portrait of master chef Curtis Duffy.”
What makes a master chef? In this story about food, family, balance, and sacrifice, Curtis Duffy, one of the country’s most renowned chefs, is building his dream restaurant, even as his personal life has fallen apart. Already the recipient of two coveted stars from the Michelin Guide, Duffy has ambitions for his Chicago restaurant Grace to become the best in the country, but his focus on his career has cost him his marriage and relationship with his two young daughters. For Grace follows the building of Grace from concrete box to opening night, showing the exacting standards required in luxury dining, as well as exploring Duffy’s life, from turbulent childhood to his path to chef stardom to his discovery that excellence in the kitchen can exact a price.
