“Illuminates the debate between fine art, fashion, and pop culture and captures the creativity, passion and visionaries behind the exhibition and gala”
Q&A with filmmaker and Andre Leon Talley of Vogue after screening
From Andrew Rossi, the director of Page One: Inside the New York Times, comes the fashion-forward documentary First Monday in May, which explores the fabulous and fantastic New York institution of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as the eagerly anticipated Met Gala, co-chaired by Vogue’s Anna Wintour. This behind-the-scenes film follows Met curator Andrew Bolton as he and his team create the Costume Institute’s 2015 exhibition “China: Through the Looking Glass,” which explores Chinese-inspired Western fashion. First Monday in May is an intimate documentary detailing the collaboration between Andrew Bolton and Anna Wintour; it offers a rare view of the infrastructure, politics, and drama behind one of the Met’s most prestigious fashion galas.
