He was a working-class horse who took on the best – and did it for a tenner a week. In this heartwarming “nags-to-riches” documentary, a Welsh mining town unites to show the world what they’ve got: Dream Alliance, a racehorse who shatters the “class ceiling” and takes the racing world by storm. It all starts when a local barmaid and her husband decide to breed a racehorse. Soon enough, 23 of their friends have agreed to go in on their unusual venture, mostly just to see “if it would work;” in the process, they find themselves up against some of the finest thoroughbreds in the sport. Dream Alliance makes a name for himself, but then tragedy strikes: just as he is poised for more victories, he gets injured. Is this the end of the dream?
