“Deftly weaves together her parents' story as young collectors with the life of Warhol, whose popularity rose and fell precipitously before booming posthumously in the past 20 years.”

Andrew Travers, The Aspen Times

From the supermarket to the art market, with a stop in one family’s living room. In 1969, Skyler’s parents bought an Andy Warhol Brillo Box for $1,000. An exact replica of the popular Brillo soap pad product package, Warhol’s Brillo Boxes were at first dismissed by the art world. Forty years later, in 2010, the same sculpture sold for over $3,000,000 at a record-breaking Christie’s auction. Brillo Box (3¢ Off) blends personal narrative with Pop Art history, exploring the ephemeral nature of art and value as it follows an Andy Warhol sculpture from one family’s house to the contemporary global art market.
